Sultan Mehmed III, who ascended to the Ottoman throne as the thirteenth sultan, was born on May 26, 1566 in the Manisa palace. Sultan Mehmed III, whose father was Murad the Third and whose mother was Safiye Sultan, received a very strong education.When Sultan Murad III died in Topkapi Palace in 1595, Safiye Sultan did not inform anyone about this death. He sent his officials to Manisa secretly and invited his son to the throne. Mehmet the Third was enthroned on January 27, 1595. After the allegiance ceremony, the funeral prayer of Murad III was performed and he was removed with a ceremony. After that, the Sultan Mehmed III went to the Haremi Hümayun and ordered the execution of his brothers Mustafa, Osman, Bayezit, Cihangir, Abdullah, Abdurrahman, Hasan, Yakup, AlemÅŸah, Yusuf, Hüseyin, Korkut, Ali, Ä°shak, Ömer, Alaeddin, Murat. The girls, who were concubines of Murat III, were sent to the old palace. Pregnant concubines were thrown into the Sea of ​​Marmara and drowned.

 The enthronement of the Third Mehmet, who valued maintaining the state and sitting on the throne above brotherly love, was bloody and disastrous. Sultan Mehmed III married Handan Sultan, a Turkish girl. Handan sultan, who was quiet and polite, was busy with the upbringing of his children, who were not involved in palace intrigues. His children were Åžehzade Ahmet, Cihangir, Selim and Mahmut. Prince Selim died of scarlet fever. Åžehzade Mahmut died at the age of sixteen.

 Sultan Mehmed III, who had two daughters from this marriage, married one of his daughters to Davut Pasha and the other daughter to Governor Mustafa Pasha. Sultan Mehmed III had his son, Prince Mahmut, who was sixteen years old, strangled in the last years of his life. The reason for the execution of the prince was that a sheikh gave the good news that he would ascend to the throne, that a sheikh gave the good news that he would ascend to the throne, that the prince was happy with this news and conveyed his thanks to the sheikh, and that someone who heard it informed the Third Mehmet.

 The reign of Sultan Mehmed III, who was interested in literature and poetry, lasted 8 years, 10 months and 25 days. This sultan, who caused the death of both his brothers and his son, died of a heart attack on December 21, 1603, at the age of 37. He was buried in his tomb in the courtyard of Hagia Sophia with a ceremony.
