 Detailed Biography Of Sultan Murad II :

Sultan Murad II was born in Amasya in 1403 . He was called Big Murat, Murat Gazi and Murat the Second. His father was Çelebi Sultan Mehmed and his mother was Emine Hatun, the daughter of Dulkadiroğlu Süli. When his father Çelebi Mehmet died in Edirne, he came to Bursa from Amasya and sat on the Ottoman throne as the sixth sultan in 1421 at the age of eighteen. He received a good education from famous scholars. Sultan Murad II, who was interested in writing beautifully, was a calligrapher who wrote thuluth and naskh.

 Sultan Murad II did not have his brothers killed when he ascended the throne. He had seven sisters. People loved Sultan Murad II, they used to say Big Murat Gazi to indicate his greatness. Koca Murat was a well-educated, cultured sultan and also a developer. He built a bridge over the Ergene water and turned this place into a town. He built mosques, madrasas, schools, guesthouses, soup kitchens and mevlevihanes in Bursa and Edirne. He thought of throwing cannons by setting up an armory to take the castles and demolish the walls. Sultan Murad II is the first to think about the development of Turkish trade and economy. Since he appreciated the importance of economic development in the structure of the country, he was given the title of Sultanul Muktasidin.

 Sultan Murad II also printed money again during the time of Koca Murat Gazi. He placed his son, Prince Mehmet, on the Ottoman throne when Murat Gazi was alive. His greatest happiness is that he has a very valuable son like Fatih Sultan Mehmet. Sultan Murad II had a reign of 30 years and died on February 3, 1451.
